The Parliament of Sierra Leone on Friday 18th November 2022, enacted the Bill entitled “The National Council for Civic Education and Democracy Act, 2022,” for the purpose of continuous nationwide civic education on the roles and responsibilities of citizens, patriotism and nationalism. The Act also seeks to provide development communication for government and partner programmes
The National Council for Civic Education and Development has held a Youth and Duty bearers dialogue session, as part of a Conflict Resolution and Peacebuilding youth training in Kholifa Rowula and Yoni Mamaila Chiefdoms in Tonkolili district, North East Region of Sierra Leone. This is part of the implementation of a “Youth at Risk Project”
Outlining their achievements and their plans, Mr. Mohamed S. Kamara, an executive member of PeDA, in an engagement held with Bureh beach, York and Kent communities on 7th June 2022, said, “it is very important to live peacefully together.” He maintained that, “community peace is very important because general elections are around the corner.” Mr.
The National Council for Civic Education and Development (NaCCED), has commenced the second phase of the program “Empowering youth at risk as resources for sustaining peace and community resilience.” This youth focused activity is done with support from the United Nation Development Programme (UNDP) and is currently targeting youths in Tonkolili North-East and Kenema Eastern
