SIERRA LEONE GOVERNMENT DELEGATION ATTENDS 9th OPEN GOVERNMENT GLOBAL PARTNERSHIP SUMMIT IN VITORIA GASTEIZ, SPAIN

by NaCCED / Tuesday, 07 October 2025 / Published in Networking, Uncategorized

Ahead of the official opening of the 9th Open Government Global Partnership summit slated for Thursday 7th October 2025 in Vitoria Gasteiz in Spain, the Sierra Leone Government delegation, headed by the Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, Mr. Bockarie Abdel Aziz Bawoh, the Chairman of the National Council for Civic Education said Democracy (NaCCED), Mr. Joseph Munda Bindi, and OGP Officer,  Mr. Ibrahim Sakie Jabati and people from other countries participated in the social programme of the OGP Global summit offered by the city of Vitoria Gasteiz.

The Sierra Leone Government Delegation is proudly participating in the 9th Open Government Partnership (OGP) Global Summit in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Spain. This pivotal gathering brings together world leaders, civil society, and innovators to reinforce our shared commitment to transparency, accountable governance, and citizen engagement.

Among several social events was a visit to Valle Salado de Afiana in the Salade community, where salt production has been carried out for over 7,500 years.  A conducted tour of the Valle Salado/salt production sites was led by Madam Nora, who works on a project that supports the Salt manufacturing process.

Nora explains that Valle Salado Afiana is one of Spain’s historical heritage sites, where dozens of tourists visit each day. Nora further explains that the salt produced in the Valle Salado is the best quality salt in the world. Different types of salt products are manufactured in the factory, including liquid salt, which is essential for food preservation.

Another exciting experience was the active participation of school pupils between the ages of 6 -10 years in the salt production process, which was a school excursion exercise.

Sierra Leone’s presence at this prestigious summit underscores our nation’s unwavering dedication to advancing open government reforms and learning from global best practices. We are actively engaging in dialogues that will shape the future of democratic governance and drive progress for the people of Sierra Leone.
