On Thursday, 18th September, NaCCED’s Director of Training and Curriculum Development, Mr. Alphan Alieu Tajawie, at one of the group discussions, presented on behalf of the Africa group members on “The idea and context of Genocide/Holocaust in Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camps in Poland.”

As part of the presentation, he named and explored the possible points of entry, opportunities, and obstacles likely to surface when teaching about local and international cases of violent pasts, including the Holocaust. The session also offered an opportunity to reflect on and discuss strategies on how to best navigate engaging on the connections responsibly in different country contexts.

Mr. Tajawie is currently participating in the UNESCO International Policy Training on Addressing Violent Pasts through education.

Stay tuned for more updates from Poland.
