As Mr. Joseph Munda Bindi takes up leadership of the National Council for Civic Education and Democracy, the new chairman in his statement during the handing over ceremony said he is committed to working diligently to deliver on the mandate of NaCCED .
Mr. Bindi acknowledged that during his familiarization, he has clearly seen a foundation of a depository of knowledge to tap from adding that he is thankful to His Excellency President Bio for given him such opportunity to serve.
Chairman Joseph Munda Bindi acknowledged that Civic Education is the tool needed for sustainable development and that the big five game changers of the President lies on the change of mindset of Sierra Leoneans.
The outgone chairman of NaCCED, Mr Kalilu Totangi commended the manifesto of His Excellency of President Bio reiterating that Civic Education is at the core of it all and that he is pleased and honored to have served as chairman of NaCCED for the last six years.
“From leveraging partnerships with International partners, to bringing in every sector on board such as cliques to have a place in society.”
He implored staff of NaCCED to work diligently with the new Chairman.
Secretary to the President, Dr. Emmanuel Gaima pointed out that the task ahead of the new chairman is enormous as values such as tolerance, transparency and accountability is needed to thrive as a nation.
He emphasized on the need for better understanding of Civic Education at all levels so that generations of young people will have genuine love for the country.
The Deputy Minister of Information and Civic Education, Bockarie Abdel Aziz Bawoh pledged his Ministry’s commitment to effectively work with NaCCED as a supervising Ministry.
Development Secretary at Ministry of Planning and Economic Development, Peter Sam-Kpakra urged NaCCED to continue on the path of development communication and also interpreting government policies to the people.
The Chief Executive , Campaign for Human Rights and Development International (CHRDI), Abdul Fatorma called on partners like tribal heads, the inter religious council, cliques and other organizations to work with Chairman Bindi to achieve his goals.
Marian Abu from the Teaching Service Commission said the reintroduction of Civic Education in schools is one of the hallmarks of NaCCED and that Teaching Service Commission is pleased to continue to work with Chairman Bindi on indulging children in schools for better civic education.
